Adam Abraham

Graduate Accountant

Originally from Sheffield, I studied Business Studies at Sheffield Hallam University, was subsequently recruited as a Corus graduate and moved to Wales in 2006.

My role includes looking after the banking for the company and also being responsible for a number of balance sheet accounts such as telecommunications and catering.

Most of the accounting function works on a monthly basis and within our small team I conduct a number of reconciliations relating mainly to the purchasing side of accounting.

The company has supported my progress through the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). I have now passed five exams and am currently studying towards the strategic level.

I have also attended a number of personal development courses including the ‘Graduate Management Programme', which consisted of two week-long sessions in relevant management theory alongside opportunities to put these new skills into practice within an off-line environment.

Outside work I believe in keeping fit. I am a keen runner and do at least one charitable race each year, usually either in support of the Sheffield Children's Hospital or for Marie Curie.

Orb has a strong reputation for social responsibility and has entered teams that have gained podium positions in the Cardiff 10km for the past three years. I was asked to be a member of the team in my first week of joining the company! This event raises money for the local heart foundation appeal.
