Non Oriented

Non Oriented Electrical Steels

Cogent Power products from Surahammars Bruks AB provide a wide choice of Non Oriented electrical steels, all manufactured to the highest quality standards. The product range includes thicknesses from 0.35mm to 1.00mm in the standard ranges, including HP grades with improved permeability, and 0.10mm to 0.27mm thicknesses for high frequency applications.

All products are available with a full range of coatings tailored to each application. The product range includes Magnashield, a material used as shielding from electrical and magnetic fields.

These materials have specially developed magnetic properties and are designed for application in electrical machines such as motors, generators and transformers. The modes of operation of these machines are derived from the electromagnetic relationships between magnetic flux and electric current.

Electrical steels are used in the cores of electrical machines to create the magnetic flux paths. The operation of the machine requires that the magnetic flux is in a state of continual change, with the result that heat energy is dissipated in the core. The special qualities of electrical steels, compared to other materials, reduce this energy loss to a minimum and increase the magnetic flux to very high levels.
