Our goal in Orb is that there shall be no accidents, injuries or ill health to our employees, contractors or visitors on our premises.
This will be achieved by:-
Leadership & Accountability
Good leadership provides the perspective and scope for effective operations. It establishes the framework based upon the organisation’s expectations.
Competent People
Success depends upon people and how they work together. All persons who work on Corus sites must be trained, qualified and competent to undertake their jobs and roles and responsibilities must be clearly defined.
Hazard Identification
Hazard identification is the process of identifying situations or conditions that have the potential for causing harm to people, damage to property, equipment, environment or some combination of these.
Compliance Assurance
Ever-changing demands upon organisations by society lead to higher standards in health and safety. The effective result is mirrored in a suite of laws, regulations and guidance notes with which organisations are expected to comply.
Health & Safety Planning
Effective planning ensures that the organisation’s expectations are achieved through coordinated actions.
Risk Assessment
Risk management ensures that identified hazards are controlled effectively to avoid or minimize human harm or economic loss.
Asset Management
Asset management is the systematic process of maintaining and upgrading the configuration and capability of equipment and facilities.
Managing Change
Management of change is required to avoid the probability of invalidating the risk management process and thus the introduction of new risks.
Managing Contractors
Organisations and persons providing services that can impact upon Corus operations and reputation must perform in a manner that is consistent with the Corus policy and business objectives.
Operational Control
Operational control and integrity depends upon people doing the right things at the right time and doing them to the required standard.
Communications
Health and safety matters must be adequately communicated to all Corus personnel, arrangements must be in place to ensure effective two-way communication, effective cross-communication must exist throughout the Company and systems must be in place for the communication of health and safety matters to and from external parties.
Emergency Planning
Emergency planning and preparedness identifies arrangements in place to protect the workforce, customers, public, assets, environment and Corus’ reputation in the event of an incident.
Learning From Events
Effective learning from events will convert incidents into improvement activities.
Monitoring Performance
To maintain and improve the effectiveness of the health and safety management system, performance needs to be measured.
Audit and Review
Audit is a structured approach to collect information on the efficiency, effectiveness and reliability of the health and safety management system and to draw up plans for corrective action in order to ensure that the organisation maintains its ability to manage risks.
